Amazon.com, ClickBank.com, and CJ.com are all very famous affiliate marketing places that you can get started with and find a good and honest programs to promote. There are other places online that you can find affiliate programs to promote but sometimes you need to research a program and see if it really does pay its affiliates. Some of them don't so you need to be careful.

A good way to fail in affiliate marketing is to try to sell a product that no one cares about. Another good way to fail using affiliate marketing is to never get your own opt in email subscribers.
